We recorded the guitar for Urban Hunting Ground and The Weathermachine last night and it sounds great. Now we just need to do the vocals, keyboards, then The Cass and I will be recording a song that we've been working on.
Gravey did the guitar... and let me tell you, Gravey is one of the coolest guitar players I know [best grunge/stoner/hippy voice] That guy is amazing! He's the kind of guy where you could say "Hey Gravey, play spoon man!" and he'd bust out a perfect spoonman on the spot!
I'd say ETA to when I have new material up, is 2 to 3 weeks. Barring some unforeseen disaster.
In other news, I got my teeth cleaned yesterday, the dentist gave me the fucking third degree. I swear I've been trying to get better about my dental health. I'll have to have my wisdom teeth out soon.

Haha! I promised new material on the site tonight, and I didnt lie techinically because I truly thought we might have some but theres NONE! AW ha ha ha, suckers.
But we did track the bass for The Weathermachine and Urban Hunting Ground. We're on the homestretch for getting this sucker in the can.

Tracked the drums for the songs Urban Hunting Ground and The Weathermachine today. We've actually got full scratch versions of those songs, which I briefly considered posting, but I think that their overall cruddy quality and lack of the essential keyboards/effects/programming that will be on the final version, may actually discourage people who have heard the scratches to come and stream the finished copies.
Me and my buddy Cass "The Cass" Nee, the best bass player I know (just listen to Story Bout Sleazy Joe), and the bass man for a great band called
"Screaming Monkey Boner" will have a song finished and availiable to stream on Monday or Tuesday. Its a song off The Weathermachine, but is actually a converted song from my solo act, I guess we're putting it on there to add more depth and reason for people to buy the disk for five bucks. Hopefully we'll have it up here monday for your enjoyment.

Har har, we're going into the studio Thursday to start finishing The Weathermachine EP. Three more songs to do. They'll be availiable to stream... it'll be awhile before its availiable for purchase on account of we've still gotta do the art and other post-production razmataz.
Urban Hunting Ground - a dream I had about people sick of being ruled by their bosses and by the material world (specifically truckers), break off from society and make war on civilization. The moral, treat people with respect.
The Weathermachine - Title track, science fiction. I wasnt originally going to have a title track but I was listening to an interview Art Bell was doing on Coast to Coast AM with a guy who was actually talking about The Weathermachine and I started taking some notes and started writing a song. I took inspiration from another Art Bell interview as well where I got the idea. Y'know, even if I was taken into a secret meeting underground, and told about a weathermachine that could destroy the world. The government could release me back into society because even if I did start telling everybody no one would believe me because the concept seems utterly preposterous to the average human being... something to think about. Yeah, I'm a goofball.
Leaving on a Train - Kind of a bonus track. A song I do solo done with more of a band flavor, featuring a lapsteel guitar solo. About a guy who basically leaves his simple life behind to try and find stardom in Nashville and ends up regretting it.
Yeah, no two songs quite alike.

The new Icepick...
He mighta once killed some guy with an icepick.
He drums and things.

What a strange week.
Tuesday night we lost our drummer, then got a new one.
Then today we had a real practice with the new drummer.
So the title of "Icepick" has been passed to the new drummer, dont have any pictures of the new Icepick though, so the old Icepick pictures will remain up until further notice I guess.

Played a show in Iowa, I did it solo since the band isnt quite ready yet. I had a lot of fun, it'll probably be one of my last solo shows and it was a benefit for Amnesty International. So I made sure to look my best...
I arrived at the venue five minutres before the show started, without a setlist, with my electric guitar (acoustic broken), and not having practiced my solo stuff in over a month. But I persevered and I did well, and people had a good time. I met some bands from Des Moines, and hopefully made some gigging connections. They paid for my gas and put me in a hotel, so I guess I only stood to benefit.
It however was a darn shame my traveling partners thought that the "blur" filter on the damn camera is the biggest thing since sliced bread. So all the photos of the performance look like this
We went to the hotel room, got bombed and went to sleep. Then the next morning there was no way in hell I could turn down an opportunity to pose in front of THE Carnegie Hall*.
and the best part is no one got hurt...

More delays in getting the weathermachine done. It could be awhile, due to scheduling conflicts, partly my fault and partly the fault of others. We can just call it a non-fault.
The band however, with its solidified lineup, practices on sunday.
At last the long awaited lineup of Johnny BoomBoom and the Men Who Control the Weather...
Guitar - Mike "Mike D" Abraham. Shamed in his homeland for a crime he didnt commit, he was known as the fastest gun in West Milford, New Jersey. Joe Cleveland, the fastest gun in North Milford didnt take kindly to Mike and framed him for murder. Now Mike is on the run from the Passaic County sheriff, and determined to prove his innocence.
Bass - "Angry" Chris Brenberg. A collegebound genius who got a 34 on his ACT. He's like MacGuyver mixed with Einsten, sometimes they call him Einguyver. He can make anything out of anything. He once leveled a city block in LA, and then built it back up in a night. He's wanted for posession on 82 counts of posessing illegal materials, and one count of leveling an entire city block, and another count of building that block back up again without a permit.
Drums - John "Icepick" Engfer. They call him Icepick, on account of he mighta once killed some guy with an icepick.
Vocals and bad keyboard - Of course... Sancho Panza himself, Johnny BoomBoom. No one knows where Johnny BoomBoom comes from exactly, he kinda wanders into down, does a lot of damage by accident and for no reason, then leaves. He's wanted by the Federal Government for "suspicion of suspicious behavior". His Arch Enemies include Sleazy Joe, The Man, Marc Bolan (King of the Hippies), and The Future Johnny BoomBoom. He did six months in Burmese prison for "lurking", but other than that his record is spotless... a man of mystery.

Well. The live band lineup is done.
Mike "Mike D" Abraham on Guitar.
"Angry" Chris Brenberg on Bass.
John "Icepick" Engfer on drums... we call him Icepick, on account of he mighta once killed some guy with an icepick.
and of course myself Johnny BoomBoom singing, and tormenting keyboards.
So if you want to book us for a show in a few months... I've now got the band together we gotta get the material ready, but uh, yeah book a show if you're from the midwest and uh, book shows.
Our pictures can be found on the picture dealy.

Wow. I might as well do one of these.
Hey, I'm Johnny BoomBoom, of Johnny BoomBoom and the Men Who Control the Weather.
Johnny BoomBoom was a nickname I didnt really intend to last more than a week a couple years ago. But it stuck... now theres people, friends even, that dont know me by any other name.
The Men Who Control the Weather... well thats a longer story. Well not really. This band started off as a top secret side project for me and some guys from other local bands, and we nicknamed the project "The Weathermachine". Because that was a very top secret sounding name, and so the guys in the band became "The Men Who Control the Weather". Of course, they've all gone back to their original bands, so there will be a different lineup at the live shows than is heard on the recordings. All of the pieces of the live band havent fallen into place just yet, however I think I'll have a very talented group of musicians working with me.
These two songs are the ones we've recorded so far, we got them out of the way first because they're structurally the simplest. The final three songs for the "The Weathermachine" EP will be done sometime in late march.
I love hearing feedback, positive and negative, so please if you download leave a comment. I'd greatly appreciate it.
Good luck in your struggles,
Johnny BoomBoom
